This book is dedicated to the unsung heroes of the Merchant Navy Sailors with no military training also Corp Stuart McLaughlin 3 Para Alan Johansen a Night Steward on board SS CANBERRA during The Falklands War Spring 1982 Canberra after surviving Air attacks wave after wave in San Carlos waters 21st My wife an I met Alan and his neighbor while walking along the river canal in Gloucester this year We heard from him about this book so I ordered it I was 23 years old during the Falkland conflict and as a Swiss I am very interested in reading about the war and the reasons behind the occupation by the Argentines Amongst others I red the book of Rick Joley Doctor for friend and foe Hugh Bicheno Razors Edge and Jerry Pook RAF Harrier ground attack Even though these book are splendid they lack the view Alan Johansen offers An honest account of a young man thrown into a conflict and war What striked me most is the humbleness and openness Alan approaches his experience without becoming mushy In my opinion a must read for everyone who wants to get a feel how the war was perceived by a young man and civilian worker Thank you Alan for this book Valentin
