Book ´ The Trial Of Rosemary West È Brian Masters

Captivated by the hit ITV true crime drama DES? Uncover the truth behind the trial of Rosemary West another of Britains most infamous serial killersAnyone reading this brilliant book will wonder whether justice was really done Evening StandardIn 1994 Frederick West was arrested and accused of murdering twelve young women But it was the trial of his wife Rosemary West that became Britains serial killer trial of the centuryDetained for the murder of the twelve women found at 25 Cromwell Street Gloucester Frederick West hung himself on New Y The most remarkable thing about this remarkable book is that it gives you the opportunity to consider the evidence against Rose West as a juror would rather than as a tabloid reader Just because Rose was married to Fred West did that honestly legally warrant 10 life sentences? Show me the evidence and I'll happily lock the door but I can't help feeling this was a case of 'guilty by association' for all of Rose West's faults after reading this I'm not convinced her conviction was legally sound At least someone went to prison eh? I can't help feeling that had Peter Sutcliffe killed himself before his trial Brian Masters would have written a similar book about his wife Sonia Rose West might be a terrible mother and a morally uestionable person She may be 'evil' and she may even be a murderess but in a court of law you need to prove things beyond a reasonable doubt and this fascinating book throws a huge amount of doubt on that 'proof' If you believe everything you read in The Sun then yes she was guilty as hell If you're prepared to consider the evidence in front of you and forget what you've been told by the tabloids it's a far difficult call It's a brilliant book

"She Must Have Known" The Trial Of Rosemary WestEars Day 1995 The case had enraged the nation and the subseuent trial of Rosemary for the same crimes caused a media sensationHow are ordinary human beings driven to become serial killers? How did this psychopath ensnare so many women? And how much was Rosemary truly involved?Brian Masters attended the Rosemary West trial on a daily basis In She Must Have Known he produces a penetrating study of the sexual obsession that led to a series of horrifying and measured killings ultimately leaving the reader to make up their own mind on the guil Frederick Walter Stephen West was a serial killer who killed at least 12 women and possibly 20 between 1967 and 1987 in Gloucestershire the majority with his second wife Rosemary West He avoided trial when he hung himself on New Year's Day 1995 At least eight of the murders involved the Wests' sexual gratification and included rape bondage torture and mutilation The victims' dismembered bodies were buried in the cellar or garden of the Wests' Cromwell Street home in Gloucester which became known as the House of Horrors Fred West also committed at least two murders on his own and Rose murdered Fred's stepdaughter Charmaine The couple were apprehended and charged in 1994Fred West asphyxiated himself while on remand at HM Prison Birmingham on 1 January 1995 when he was charged with 3 murders and along with his wife Rose were jointly charged with nine murders In November 1995 Rose was convicted of ten murders and sentenced to ten life terms with a whole life orderThis is a very interesting thought provocative read that reasons against Rose West's guilt Rose West was convicted on the strength that she must have known what was going on with her husband's crimes and without any real evidence against her personally At her trial many of the witnesses were already signed up by national newspapers waiting for payment on the condition that she was found guilty Whether she was guilty or not this is not a satisfactory way when a jury is deciding on such an important caseI found this a very interesting book I am not sure I can go along with a lot of the authors reasoning but it certainly opens your eyes to what some people see as perfectly normal behaviour A little bit too much court details for me but a very good insight into the events surrounding these murders
