This is a plot driven domestic chiller written by a debut author The concept is original and was highly effective in compelling me to keep turning the pages I immediately disliked Alice she was immature and clingy and at one point I thought the plot would take me somewhere it didn't concerning when how and at what age the couple met The husband was lax in destroying forensic evidence at the start considering he's a judge covering himself and Alice up then leaving blood all over the house that even with a bleach clean would have been seen under luminol Though the author mentions using artistic licence in legal and procedural aspects of the title these actually were spot on and that is something very important to hardened readers of crime and thriller fiction so for that Park is deserving of five stars alone But with such a pacy story Gone Girl esue but much better in my view it's such an entertaining read sharp snappy no drama no over detail etc and a rating below five stars wouldn't sufficeI'm looking forward to reading from Park

The reviews that suggests that this is a page turner are correct but the whole plot goes a bit bonkers after a while with people behaving in implausible ways The characters were somewhat caractures and one of the main characters Alice was badly drawn part clingy nice wife part complete psychopath She did not make any sense at all Despite all that the plot continues at breakneck pace and you definitely do want to find out what happens Enjoyed the book even with its faults

I enjoyed this book it was is the author’s debut I was gripped from the get go None of the protagonists seemed particularly likeable Paul Reeve works in the legal world His wife seems timid but in fact has a core of steel That’s all I can really say without giving away the plotI actually enjoyed the book it was engrossing and engaging Neither of the protagonists paint themselves in glory but it was a fun way to while away the lockdown hours many thanks to Alex Laayt who afforded me the opportunity to read an advanced readers’ copy
