This is an excellent catalogue from a show in the US which must have passed me by This looks like a top uality catalogue from the time of the exhibition which is to say that there are not uite as many colour illustrations as would be expected from a volume produced within the last few years but that's not to say that there are not plenty there are The scholarship is excellent as is to be expected from an institution such as the one responsible for the publication Plenty of contextual comparisons to contemporaries predecessors and successors and the now obligatory chapter on techniue derived as usual from conservator's micro analyses Which means that if you already understand what they are writing about you'll understand it but it won't help you paint in the de la Tour manner without a lot of external information But better included than left out All in all a really great publication and an absolute bargain
